About
Us
At The Lutherie Shop we offer full service, from re-stringing an
instrument to restoring it, while completing the repair in the most
efficient time feasible. We understand that finding a tech that you
can trust isn't always easy, so we continually produce the highest level
of repair, in the timeliest manner and at a reasonable rate for quality
craftsmanship that we can. We rely on "word of mouth" as
our
best form of advertising and we strive to ensure that every customer is given
the best service possible, as well as the most accurate information.
We give the customer the power to determine how far they wish to go
with a repair, while recommending appropriate procedures for the
individual instrument.
The Instruments
While we can never say
we've seen it all, we can say we've seen a lot over the years. We
assess every instrument with knowledge from over 25 years of repair
experience working on many different types of instruments. We repair
all makes of acoustic and electric guitars and basses, the mandolin
family, all types of banjos, resonator instruments, double basses, lap
steels, ouds, bouzouki family, ukes, lutes, dulcimers, autoharps, and the
occasional accordion or harmonica. Basically we repair everything
but bowed and wind instruments. We enjoy the specific challenge that
each individual instrument poses, and appreciate the fact that each repair
is different.
The Specs
The
Lutherie Shop is an 1800 square foot facility that is fully climate
controlled. We keep the shop humidity level at 45-50% and
temperature at 70° year round. With
separate rooms for finishing, drying, buffing and woodworking, along with
a dust collection system, we can maintain a clean environment free from
contamination. The professional spray booth is completely sealed in
its own room with heated make-up air, which means it breathes on it's own!
Two main bench areas and way too many power tools make up the rest of the
shop area. Ninety percent of the work we do is hand-crafted, we just
use the power tools to speed up the process and maintain exact
measurements. We have our customer area separated from the work area
for obvious reasons, but with a huge window bay where you can observe the
work in progress.
